A picture of Sheena Carey, the West-African griot and storyteller
​Sheena Carey is the griot of our film. That's a West African term for "storyteller." She tells the story of Bronzeville to Kamani, a teenage boy. Sheena is a long-time Milwaukee resident who is recognized for her expertise in communication and the arts. She has served as an adjunct faculty member for Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin System since 1989. She is currently at work on a novel, a play, poetry and several children’s books.

A picture of Kamani Graham, the boy who learns about the history of Bronzeville
Kamani Graham is the teenage boy in the story who is learning about Bronzeville. Kamani has an interest in forensics and the arts. His is an actor with Milwaukee’s First Stage and had a leading role in the First Stage play, "Welcome to Bronzeville." He also appeared in “Big Nate: The Musical.” Kamani attended Golda Maier School, formerly the Fourth Street School that was attended by children in Bronzeville. He's now in high school.
